A better rollator for better posture.
Both upright walkers and rollators have easy-grip handles with handbrakes, a seat, and a mobility pouch.
Rollators are a great mobility aid. But walking with an upright walker posture is crucial to avoid back pain. On the Veloped you can slide the seat forward and take a step into the rollator to prevent you from slouching as you stride.
What are the benefits of better posture?
Posture is how your body is positioned when you are standing or sitting. Correct posture puts the least amount of strain on your muscles, back, and joints.
Benefits of good walking posture include:
- Improved balance. Having better balance not only lowers your risk of falls, it can also improve your athletic ability.
- Less back pain. Good posture puts less stress and tension on the disks and vertebra in your spine.
- Lower risk of injury. Moving and standing correctly reduces the strain on your muscles, joints, and ligaments.

So when walking with the rollator, make sure you can go inside the rollator or upright Walker to avoid walking with a bent back or slouch with your shoulders. One way of avoiding back pain is to walk with proper walking aid.
Why this crouched posture?
Many rollator users walk with a crouched back, which is of course very tyresome and ergonomically disadvantageous. This is often caused by the seat of conventional rollators being positioned to close to the legs, and there is not enough space for the legs when walking. As a result the user has to walk too far behind the rollator, and the crouched position comes automatically.
Upright walker posture
The seat of the Veloped can be slid forward, which provides plenty of walking space within the frame. This means that you can walk closer to the grip handles, which automatically results in a more upright and ergonomically correct body posture.
It is also vital that you adjust the grips to the correct height, and the grips of the Veloped are of course height-adjustable. When you are standing upright, with your shoes on and with your arms hanging in a relaxed state along your body (elbow slightly bent), set the grips at wrist height. With the grips at wrist height, you can walk closer to the hand grips, which results in a more upright body posture and a more vertical weight distribution.
Ergonomic grip bar
The Veloped's U-shaped grip bar offers multiple grip positions, and during longer walks you can change your hand position in order to relieve your joints and to avoid a static posture. The grip bar can be set at your chosen height, free from fixed increments. When you are seated the grip bar acts as a back rest.
